Cross Stitch: My Obsession!

I started stitching when I was in junior high, those little 2 x 3 inch pieces that came complete with the floss, needle, pattern, and a plastic frame... to make a little hanging, or a tree ornament. By time I finished high school, I was tackling slightly larger pieces, and some time after that, I found the cross stitch section at Michael's, and fell in love.

Fantasy Ride, a piece with three gorgeous carousel horses, was my first large piece... it took me nine months to finish it!. While I was working on that, I found this fantastic dragon encircling a castle, and that, my friends, was the beginning of my Teresa Wentzler obsession.

Unfortunately, at the time, I wasn't up to doing a Teresa Wentzler design just yet, and I'd never even heard of this 'evenweave' stuff, I just started it on the aida fabric that came with the kit. And, before too long, I was immensely frustrated, and the dragon got tossed in my closet, along with my various other unfinished projects.

I did take him out and work on him a bit when I first moved here, but that didn't last too long. He came out of the closet again last spring, and I accomplished quite a lot, but I burned out again. He came out again earlier this year, and now he's looking good! I'm hoping to have him mostly done by time Jev and I move in together, and I'm planning to backstitch him when we're on the road to Virginia.

Update: April 6, 1999

Yes, I'm beyond help! I haven't finished up any of my UFOs, but I went and started another one: Teresa's English Garden Sampler. Go figure.... If you want to see what I've done on it so far, take a look here

More to come...
