An Empty Room

It's only 10:30, but it seems so much later. I'm not sure why... I guess it could be that I'm just using the desk lamp instead of the ceiling light, and there's no sound but for me clicking away on the keyboard, and the occasional noise from Mom's room.

After having Jev here for a week again, my room just seems empty. Sure, there's not so much stuff piled around as when he was here, but there's also no 'presence,' for lack of a better term. I was used to my solitude, but now I miss the company.

We got my computer upgraded while he was here -- the first day, actually -- but a few days later, it decided not to boot, and we spent most of Thursday fighting with Windows, and eventually deleting the main partition on my main hard drive, and then re-creating it. That fixed whatever was choking Windows, but it also meant that I had to re-reinstall everything. Fun, fun, fun. Some days, I wish all my stuff ran under Linux.

I'm pretty tired, so I'm going to keep this short, and try not to babble too much. For the most part, Jev and I just spent time together, goofing off on the computer (when it would cooperate), watching movies, snuggling up together, and so on. We cooked a couple nice dinners for ourselves, spent a little time with our friend Connie and her partner, and Mom took us out to eat at a few different little places around town.

We didn't get the big snowstorm that they kept predicting, which I'm quite thankful for. The St. Louis airport was supposed to get six inches of snow today, but nothing fell on us all the way there or back, and Jev was out of there shortly after we left. He's staying in a hotel in Roanoke tonight, just goofing off, since his parents brought the old car for him to use from now until he graduates. I kinda wish he was online, but the dorms are closed until noon tomorrow. So tonight is just a laid back evening. Just realized Star Trek: Voyager should be on, so I'll stop now. So much for not rambling! ;)
