Out With the Old

Today has been a day for clearing out the clutter and the things I've outgrown. It feels good, and I feel a little lighter, emotionally, knowing that I already have several fewer boxes that I'll be hauling with me when I move.

Mom started it all, by dragging all the boxes of 'summer' clothes out of storage, and having me go through those; I got rid of around a third. Then I went through my closet and tossed out over half of my sweaters and a couple outfits I no longer wanted -- either because they're too small now, or I just don't think they're 'me'. After the closet, I tackled my drawers, but those were already pretty well weeded out from last time I went through them. I also got rid of my featherbed, which had been occupying a few square feet of floor space since the last time it slid off my bed; I've had enough fighting with it, and I don't see Jev and I using it.

Clothing matters all attended to (and a few pairs of shoes tossed in for good measure), I proceeded to go through my main box of craft patterns and miscellaneous crafting stuff, and I pulled out a good handful of those to go in the pile, as well. Then we tackled my cupboards in the laundry room. I had books, notebooks, magazines, software boxes and manuals... you name it, it was probably in there.

I'm parting with most of my Star Trek books, and only keeping one or two of them, but I'm keeping most of the series I read as a pre-teen: The Chronicles of Narnia, the Princess books by George Mac Donald, the Anne of Green Gables serieis, and others. I've still managed to fill several small boxes with books that will come with me, and there are no doubt a few more boxes' worth to be packed, lurking on the shelves in my room.

All the sorting and tossing fairly well set me into a lazy streak for the rest of the day. I surfed online -- and removed myself from several webrings I was a part of as Lisana's Life -- watched a little TV with Mom, and spent some time with Jev this evening.

It's raining now, and I find myself quickly growing sleepy, so I'll draw this to a close. Maybe tomorrow I will get a little further on my packing and sorting. One thing is for sure: I'm going to have a heck of a yard sale in a couple weeks! Anyone have a spare card table or two? *wink* ~ Lis
