I got the letter about my high school reunion today, that my friend had promised to send me (it had been delivered to her mom's house, in California), just in the nick of time! I say that because they asked for deposits on reservations to be in by Friday.
Fortunately, two of the Reunion committee members put their e-mail addresses in the letter, so I got in touch with Jennifer, whom I was better acquainted with back in school, and she wrote back and let me know that she was mailing out new information today, so I caught her just in time to change the address on my envelope.
Reunions really cost! At least when they're out in the L.A. area, I guess. I told Mom how much mine will be, and her jaw hit the floor. Her 45 year reunion is coming up later this year too, but it's only about $20. For the $75 I'll be paying, plus $50 for Jev's ticket, it better be a darn good reunion! I can understand now why my friend up in Minnesota wasn't too sure she was going to go. Factor in about $800 in airfare for the two of us, and this is really going to be a pricey event.
But the cost didn't put Jev off (except that he was in shock that my reunion cost more than his Virginia Tech reunion will), and he mentioned something about me having to have an engagement ring by then. *chuckle* He said I should have it so I can show off to all the people who were mean to me back in my school days, but really, high school wasn't too bad for me.
In the process of clearing out old papers and mementos and such, I stumbled across the programme from my high school commencement proceedings a few days ago, so I took that and went to sixdegrees and tried to see if I could find anyone. No such luck. I hunted down some reunion registries too, but the only one that had anybody besides me posted charged $25 for you to see anything more than their names. *sigh*
So I set up a club on Yahoo, and e-mailed Jennifer from the Reunion Committee about it, and asked her to please pass on the URL if anyone else from our year was online. Maybe we can get some interaction going there. Hopefully.
Anyway, I'm kinda tired, and I'm not doing much but babbling, so I'll wrap this up. If you're interested in getting in touch with your old classmates, check out some of the Alumni registries listed below. Most are free, and those that aren't free to view contact info will be listed with an asterisk (*)
