Late night
Long ago, in a state far away, a six year old girl went to a drive in movie in the drizzling rain. I really don't remember much of the event itself, but I had been spending the weekend with my dad, and a couple of my sisters borrowed his van, and to the drive-in we went. The weather must have cleared, and I'm sure the movie was great, but I was only six or seven, and I fell asleep about halfway through.
It wasn't until much later, when Mom and I got our first VCR that I really watched the first Star Wars movie. By then, I'd already seen Empire and Jedi in the theatre, and those I remembered. When the "Special Edition" came out a few years ago, I finally saw it on the big screen in its entirety, the way it ought to be seen.
Tonight, Jev and I went to see Phantom Menace (as if you hadn't guessed), and while it wasn't the Star Wars of twenty some years ago (gads, it doesn't seem that long ago, really), it was pretty cool in its own right. I look forward to seeing where the rest of this trilogy will go, and while I know George Lucas has said he won't make the final trilogy into films, I hope that some day they will be made.
No, the movie wasn't all Jev and I did today. We got rid of his dad (he headed home), got the down payment for the car and found insurance and financing, and we even got a little more unpacking done. We hope to get our car tomorrow, so that will take up most of our time for the day.
Jev's in the living room, watching a bit of an original Star Trek episode, so I'm off to try to figure out which one it is. I think I have him a little bit amazed that I can name an episode after seeing about thirty seconds of it, or less. I did warn him I was a little strange in some ways... *wink*
