Memorial Day

By now you probably know I can't seem to make it through a Monday without something going wrong. I thought I'd make it today, but I just proved myself wrong.

I'd just finished typing in my back entries, and went out to the kitchen for a drink and my daily aspirin. Got said drink and took my pill, and stopped to refill the Brita pitcher before heading back in here. By time I got the glass, it was covered in condensation; as I walked from kitchen to hall, across the short section of linoleum between the front door and the hall, the glass slipped right through my hand.

I had eight brand new glasses, now I have seven. Jev picked up the broken glass and mopped up the floor for me, since I was in bare feet and didn't want to risk stepping on glass I couldn't see, and he also discovered that one of the glass shards cut a hole in the linoleum. It's always something.

I know from when Mom had new linoleum put in, that there is a sealer they have to fill between joins, so I wonder if that's available elsewhere, and if it will help prevent that split from getting worse. I think I've seen a split spot in the master bath, as well, and I'm pretty sure we didn't cause that one.

At least today's problem was minor. Other than that little incident, everything is going well so far. Jev got his new car on Wednesday, and Saturday we drove down to Greensboro, NC, to go to Best Buy and see what other shops they had around there. Yesterday and today, we've been pretty lazy, resting up and preparing for Jev's first week of work, which starts tomorrow.

The cats are settling in, and not getting into too much trouble; I just hope they don't get over their fear of the front door opening, and decide to go out for a walk. Back in Misery, we had an enclosed front porch, so it was easier to keep them from making a beeline for freedom, but I'm not sure how they're going to handle this new arrangement.
