Hi,!
Friday night Jev wanted to go out for dinner, but I was really worn down and didn't feel like doing much (I'd been working hard here last week), so I suggested we do a cheap dinner (Taco Bell) and then go see a movie. Last time we went to see something I wanted to see, so this time I suggested the new Austin Powers, because I knew he'd like that. He laughed himself silly, and I thought it was pretty funny, too. (I never saw the first one, which I thought would be pretty stupid.)
Before the movie, we'd stopped at Target to kill a little time, and Jev bought me my own controller for our new Playstation, since it only came with one, and he bought himself a game (Ridge Racer 4). After we got home from the movie, we were both still wound up, so he popped in the game and we played until around one. I raced against him a few times (it's a car race game), and then I let him play the solo thing.
Saturday morning, we got up and out by around ten, and drove downtown to go to the farmer's market. We spent about $20 there, on a hanging basket plant and then fruits and veggies, and a catnip plant for the kids. We had to come home to put stuff in the fridge, and so Jev called his friend that he went to Tech with, to see if he was busy that afternoon.
His friend and friend's wife were waiting on a call back from a car dealership to see if they'd be approved for financing, so they were going to call us back in an hour, if it fell through and they had the afternoon free. They live over in Blacksburg where the school is, so that's about 45 minutes or an hour away from here. As it turned out, the friend never called back, and after I woke Jev up out of his half nap and got him going again, we went out and goofed off... I just can't remember what we did. Ooops. :)
Boy, my memory was really shot yesterday when I wrote this! Saturday afternoon we headed out and found the nearest branch of the county library and signed up (and I found the latest Mercedes Lackey hardcover, which I just finished reading this morning), and then we set off to find Lynchburg and hopefully the Michael's that resides there. We found Lynchburg and its mall, but no sign of Michael's, but that was to be resolved later.
Sunday, Jev's company was having their summer picnic, so we got up, went to Dennys, and then killed some time at ... hmmm...... K-mart (one of the only things open Sunday AM), and I got a little decorator table for my reading nook in the bedroom -- I still need a comfy chair and a bookshelf and maybe another lamp for that -- then we headed to the private lake where the party was. It was kinda boring at first, because we didn't really know much of anyone; but the food was good, and then we went over and joined in the Bingo games when they started, and between us we won three times, ten dollars each time.
It was five when bingo ran down, and I was tired and it was getting warm... the picnic was supposed to be over at six, but Jev wanted to stick around. We tried playing some ping pong, but it was too hot where the tables were, and I was starting to get dizzy, so I called an end to that, and we left.
We weren't ready to go home, and we weren't really hungry yet, so we went to Barnes & Noble and looked around for an hour or two; he bought a book, and then we headed off to decide what to eat. Outback sounded good to me, but we don't know where or if there is one around here, so we drove around looking, and then settled on Applebee's, where we both had their summer salads. Between dinner and the book, we blew our $30 and then a bit more, but I think we had a pretty good day.
Yesterday I caught up on some laundry and cleaned up the kitchen, and made homemade tacos for dinner, and then tonight it's out to eat (prolly Subway) and then to the grocery store.
Jev has to go up to DC Thursday and Friday for some engineer thing, so his mom and sister are going to come stay and keep me company. They have a little poodle, but I hope they don't bring him... not that he's a bad dog, but my cats totally flip out, and it takes them a day or so to get back to normal after he's gone.... I'm more afraid for the dog than the cats, as Munchie looks like she wants to pounce on him!
Oh yeah,. this week is "resident appreciation" at the apartments, so they have stuff going on all week... haven't actually gone to any of the functions yet (ice cream by the pool yesterday afternoon, breakfast out by the front of the complex this morning), but they're supposed to have a big party on Saturday, with one of the local radio stations coming, and I think a barbecue and the whole bit.
That reminds me, I need to have Jev RSVP for us. Okay, just sent him an e-mail. I called yesterday and left him a voicemail about something, but if he got it he never said anything, and I wonder if I got the wrong number (ooops!).
Anyway, I'll quit babbling now and let you get back to work. Bye!
~ Lis
