Yesterday afternoon, I sat down with all our bills, and started adding them up. I knew Jev would be bringing home his first paycheck, and after living on savings and credit for the past five weeks or so, I knew I didn't want to see how much we owed.
I've always been the kind of person to pay up front for things, or at least if I put them on the credit card, to pay them off when the bill comes at the end of the month. Just a habit I've gotten into, and it seems to work pretty well for me. I know there are times when you can't reasonably pull that off, like buying a car, and for college loans, but for the most part, I don't like to be in debt.
Adding it all up, if we were to pay off the Visa bill completely this month, we'd be spending well over $2k in bills and rent. Ouch! I'm glad Jev has a nice income coming in now... if we were on my income, we couldn't even swing the rent. Fortunately, his education is paying off for us now... and we've got a while before we have to start paying it off.
Yesterday, Jev was really run down when he got home from work, and so we just went out and had dinner, then came back and paid our bills and took it easy. I didn't mind at all, since my back had been giving me fits, from sitting and slouching over a book for so long in the morning. I think both of us were in bed and asleep by ten. Jev seemed to be feeling okay when he left, but I think he's still got a bit of the DC bug to fight off. If he has enough energy tonight, we'll go grocery shopping, but if not, we can hold off another day or two yet.
This morning, I woke up feeling good. Jev had massaged my back and gotten the kinks out before we went to sleep, and I slept fairly well. I made the bed while he was in the bathroom shaving and all (I usually leave that until after he's gone), and by nine this morning, I was out on the patio, stitching a bit on my Teresa Wentzler dragon. I came in when I ran out of the floss in my needle, and cleaned up the kitchen and made a fresh pot of iced tea, and then stitched again until eleven, when I hopped online.
It's just about noon now, and I'm off to have some lunch, and then see how much more stitching I can get done this afternoon. Think I'll throw in a movie, too... have a good day!
