Pooped

Pooped. That's how I feel right now (4:51 PM). But it's a good feeling; I accomplished a lot today. As it turned out, it's a good thing I was feeling so industrious, as it looks like we'll be having company tomorrow night. I always go on a "mad cleaning spree," as Jev says, when someone's coming over; must be a genetic madness, as I always thought Mom was crazy when she did the same exact thing. "Betty Crocker's not coming to do the white glove inspection," I'd tell her. Now I need someone to tell me, then convince me it's true.

Is this something that comes over you, when you run your own household? Why is it that the house can be as dirty as can be, if it's just you and hour housemattes; but as soon as someone who doesn't live with you says they'd like to visit, the place has to be spotless... or presentable, at the very least.

I think the logic in that part of it, anyway, is that your housemates contribute to the mess (usually), so if they have a problem with it being cluttered, disorganized, and downright dirty, then they can just clean it up themselves!

Okay, I confess: the place is currently "just passable." I wouldn't want my mom or Jev's coming over and seeing the job I've been doing; but I know my friends and Jev's will be more forgiving. Still, the place could use some extra vacuuming, and more clutter control measures. There are still cardboard boxes that need unpacking, and even more in need of breaking down and being taken to the dumpster. But the laundry is clean, the dishes washed, and our bedroom has been picked up, and even half vacuumed. There are now shelves for my stitching stuff, a few more things hung on the walls, and I even repotted the catnip plant that was getting too big for its britches. How's that for busy?

Now it's time to fix dinner, and then I think I'll be ready for a nice eight hour nap. But Jev said something about going to the mall, and I've got another list of things I'd like to have, so the nap will wait, at least for a bit.
