Lisana's Corollary to Murphy's Law:
If you just finished cleaning it up, someone's bound to come along and make it messier than it was before.

Peanut is a crazy little cat, at times. She'll get to racing around the apartment, and sliding on the linoleum floors through the kitchen, utility room and entryway. I keep the cats' food and water down on the floor, in the utility room, and every once in a while, little miss Speed Demon comes tearing through, puts on the brakes and tries to stop, and succeeds in knocking at least one of the dishes three feet out of position.

I'd just finished cleaning out the litter box, and I swept the floor and refilled the dry food bowl, since it was pretty low. I was in the kitchen, going through the coupons and this week's grocery ad, to see what we need to pick up tonight, when I heard it... gallop, gallop, gallop, screeeeeeeeeeech, crashrattleskittle I didn't even have to look; Peanut took the dry food with her when she turned the corner in the utility room. And I'd just cleaned up!

I didn't get mad... at least not too mad. I just went to survey the mess, and shook my head at my little peanut, who doesn't know when to quit. I grabbed the digicam and took a couple shots, and then after a few minutes I went and swept up the mess. It could have been worse. It could have been much, much worse. Fortunately, though, she didn't hit the water dish, this time around. I only had to sweep up and toss a bowlful of kibble, not a soggy, mushy mess. Today has been a reasonably good Monday.

That zit-thing on my eyelid from Friday is gone, so I'm really not sure what that was all about. I don't get zits that just up and disappear, and my eyelid looks like nothing was ever wrong. I won't complain though, as it feels much better without that lump there.

Jev really deserves an award. Last Friday, we went to K-mart in search of a storage cabinet that I'd seen in the circular, and thought would work well for storing my craft items. They had it, and we found it after a little bit of hunting around and asking the gent at Layaway. We'd taken a cart back, at my insistence, and Jev went to put the box into the cart. "You probably don't want to know how much that weighs, do you?" I asked, and he pointed at the label on the front side, that said 85 lbs. Ouch!

The layaway guy came around as Jev was lifting it, and helped him sit it up in the cart. Then Jev had to navigate the cart, holding the box upright because it was too long to fit in the cart, and too wide to lay down on its side. We made it all the way up to the front of the store, through checkout, and to the car, and Jev proceeded to load the thing in the car, by himself. Thank goodness for fold-down seats, I really wasn't sure the thing would fit!

As we pulled into the drive, I asked him if maybe we ought to open the box and just take it in piece by piece, but he said no, that he could handle it (it's about 50 feet from the edge of the parking lot to (oh shoot, Jev's on his way home and I haven't EVEN started the sketti!!!!)

7:30 PM, after dinner & grocery shopping

Okay, I'm back. As I was saying, Jev carried the whole thing from the car to the apartment, and back into the bedroom in one fell swoop. I just opened the doors for him and shooed the cats out of the way, as necessary. I didn't mean for him to put it together right away, since I knew he was hot and tired, but he went right to work, and did a very nice job! So, like I said, he definitely deserves a medal, and he did get a few extra backrubs as thanks.

I showed him the mess Peanut made with the dry food, and he just looked at her and shook his head. He calls Munchie "the good cat" so you can imagine what he thinks of Peanut, at times. Actually, he's admitted that he's getting used to them, and that they're growing on him. Of course now that I've said that, they'll probably be horrible tonight and he'll take it all back. Oh well, that's just the way it goes.
