Hey, I'm back. Not back home though; at the moment, I'm seeing a little more of Charlotte/Douglas International than I really wanted to. We flew out of here at 8 this morning, and now it's about 11:30, and we're waiting to fly out again. Our first flight tried to land at Roanoke -- twice -- but the ceiling was too low, and so they brought us back here.
I used to like flying. Unfortunately, my body stopped liking it much a few years ago, and between my flight into Seattle last September, the fun I had in Detroit last Christmas, and today's two aborted attempts to land in Roanoke, the rest of me isn't all that keen on flying anymore, either. And here I was thinking of going go Mizery in November, to spend time with Julie and mom.
Other than our little fiasco today (I'm annoyed, because the flight they put us on to go back to Roanoke is full, and we're going to have to sit apart), I think our trip went rather well. We had a nice couple flights out to LAX, and boy does the Century freeway make getting from the airport to Bellflower a breeze!
Friday, Jev and I went with Dee and her friend Lisa to Disneyland, and I let Jev push me around, so I wouldn't poop out in the first hour. We didn't get to do Splash Mountain like Jev wanted to do (mostly due to misunderstanding on my part), and we were both pretty worn out toward the end, but all in all I think we both enjoyed our day there.
Saturday, Dee was going to drag us down to her brother's new place in Irvine, since he's going to the University of California there, but I called my sister's and spoke to my brother in law, and found out my dad was having his Elk's lodge barbecue, so we had Dee take us over there. Dee's mom's car (that we were all using) broke down, so Irvine was off, and Jev and I visited with my dad for a while, and I didn't even have to see my 'wicked stepmother.' Hurray!!!!
It was really nice to see my dad; it's been about six years or so since the last time. He seemed really glad to see me too, and didn't say anything that made me feel bad for not keeping in touch very much. I'm not too sure if he knows how I feel about "her," but I think he has an idea. Maybe. *shrug*
Anyway, Jev and I stayed there at the lodge with him for an hour and a half or so, then Dee came by and picked us up, and we went back to her mom's to get ready for the reunion. We found out just before we left VA that Jev had to wear a tie to the ordeal, but Dee's brother had one handy, and so that wasn't a problem.
Our reunion was a lot of fun; got to see a lot of people that I knew, including a couple of my old teachers. I found out that my favorite teacher had passed away, and that was a bit of a downer, but for the most part, I really enjoyed myself. I tied for 'alumni travelling the farthest' to get to the reunion, I won a safe as a door prize (fortunately I *didn't* have to bring that on the plane with me), and I won the centerpiece on the table.
Yesterday, we had breakfast out at one of the marinas, and met up with the other Dee, who used to live up in Minnesota, but is now in San Francisco with her intended, then dropped off our film at the one hour photo lab -- found out the APS panoramic shots are just a bit expensive to get printed, too -- and stopped at the grocery store to pick up my La Victoria salsa that I've been missing.
Dee's friend who works at Disneyland (I know, I'm just now mentioning her) (entry stopped here... we were in the airport at the time and our flight was just about to board)
